About the Photographer

Photographer Stephen Stinson's passion for food and love of people blends naturally with his creation of photographs for advertising, editorial, and corporate clients. His personal photographs lean toward landscapes, southern scenes, and still life details. His unassuming southern character makes new clients feel at home from the beginning and previous clients return with a smile.

In 2007 an award-winning cookbook project entitled Soby's New South Cuisine (published by Table 301) showcased Stephen's photographs and the cuisine of Soby's restaurant in Greenville, South Carolina. The book won several national and regional awards including:

• Two Gold ADDY Awards in 2008 from the American Advertising Federation (AAF Greenville) for book cover design and photography
• A Gold Medal in the Independent Book Publishers Association National Cookbook category
• Nominated a top 3 finalist for the 2008 Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) book award

Shooting freshly prepared food in all natural light produced photos that make the reader's mouth water. The book was done as a ten year anniversary piece and promotional tool for the restaurant and within six months went into the second printing.

For the past several years Stephen has been working on a personal project with a friend titled Artist's Among Us. The project involves photographing local artists and bringing attention to the talent in the local and regional arts community. “We both want to highlight the local artists living and working in the region putting a name with the face and bringing attention to their talent”. The project is slated for a 2011 book release published by Hub City Writers Project.

Living in upstate South Carolina provides a pleasant and comfortable location to serve multiple markets and enjoy all four seasons. Asheville, Atlanta, Charleston, & Charlotte are several cities within a few hours drive. Having worked on various projects in each of these cities, Stephen is happy to estimate projects locally, regionally, and beyond for people, food, lifestyle, product, and architecture assignments.

Stephen is past President and Vice President of ASMP/SC, American Society of Media Photographers South Carolina chapter and is also a member of APA, Advertising Photographers of America Charlotte chapter and EP, Editorial Photographers.
